Smart Functionalities for TDD/TDMA Broadband Wireless Access Networks Employing Optically Beamformed Base-Station Antennas

The introduction of smart capabilities in broadband fixed and mobile wireless access networks employing optically beamformed base station antennas is proposed and evaluated through simulation. Novel strategies and algorithms to address dynamically changes in the network conditions, in order to optimise the network performance, are presented. The impact on the network performance is analysed demonstrating very promising results. This work has been carried out under the project IST-25390 OBANET “Optically Beamformed Antennas for Fixed and Mobile Broadband Wireless Access Networks”.
